What to eat on a Chocolate Cleanse?

The 80/20 rule was mentioned in the last blog but before we go into that here is a little ‘taste’ of what our chocolate cleanse includes:

1/2 c oatmeal
3/4 c unsweetened oat milk
1/2 c berries
1/2 c walnuts
2 Tbsp of flax meal
1 Tbsp of cocoa powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1 c Chai tea (to replace the normal daily dose of coffee)

HUGE bowl of greens (kale, arugula, spring greens)
1/2 tomato
1/2 c steamed broccoli
3/4 c mango salsa (made with mango, onion, lime and cilantro)
1/4 avocado
1/4 c pumpkin seeds
1 c warm lentils & spinach blend (cooked with mustard seed, cumin, turmeric and cayenne for some healthy spice)
1 c Green tea
2 nicobella ginger green tea truffles (a personal fave next to pure cocoa bliss)

Steamed yucca with onion, lemon, and olive oil
1 c Sauteed Brussel sprouts with garlic and olive oil
3/4 c grilled tofu with spicy cashews (mix cashews with a little oil and cayenne)
1 c warm lemon water or herbal tea
2 nicobella walnut flaxseed truffles (for some healthy omega-3’s)

Evening snack typically consists of a handful of almonds or pistachios. However a 'milkshake' is quite satisfying during evenings when something more substantial and 'sweet' is needed.

Healthy Milkshake

3/4 c oat milk
1 banana
2 Tbsp peanut or almond butter
1 Tbsp cocoa powder
1 Tbsp 'greens' powder (such as Go Greens or Omega Greens)

This milkshake is full of whole food, energizing ingredients and tastes delicious!

One or two truffles after a meal is a natural way to have a little indulgence while staying true to the cleanse. There is very little unprocessed sugar in each truffle (making them low glycemic) plus all of nicobella chocolates are made only with high antioxidant whole foods. That nice burst of energy that is felt after eating a truffle is from the theobromine that is naturally a part of the chocolate. Therefore, a little dark chocolate compliments an energizing whole foods cleanse perfectly!

Tip: Try to purchase organic ingredients whenever possible. Check this list by Dr. Weil to learn about the most important organic foods to purchase.
