Okay, so truth be told, sometimes I count chocolate as a fruit serving (okay maybe everyday). Why? Because next to fruits and veggies it's the highest in antioxidants such as catechins, epicatechins, anthocyanins, and pro anthocyanins). What do these antioxidants do? They fight free radicals which help prevent heart disease, cancer, high blood pressure, Alzeimers disease and other age-related diseases.
Eating 1.5 oz of dark chocolate a day has been shown to be beneficial.
1. Must be organic (studies has shown that conventional chocolate does not contain the same antioxidant power as organic)
2. Must be dark (milk protein binds and prevents absorption)
